Classification And Epidemiology Of Cystic Diseases Of The Kidney

a İç Hastalıkları AD, Nefroloji BD, Marmara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, İSTANBUL Classification and epidemiology of cystic diseases of the kidney is discussed in this article. He most appropriate classification is divide the cystic diseases as inherited and non-inherited cysts of the kidney. The inherited cycstic diseases are autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease, tuberosclerosis, Von Hippel Lindau disease, adult type medullary cystic disease, recessive polycystic kidney disease, juvenile nephronoftizis, and cystic diseases associated with multiple malformation syndromes. The non-inherited cystic diseases of the kidney are multicystic displasia and medullary sponge kidney defined as developmental malformations and acquired cyts of the kidney consisting of simple cysts of the kidney, multilocular cystic nephroma, hypokalemic cyctic disease and acquired cysts of the kidney seen in patients with chronic renal failure.
