Pathogenesis Of Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease
Dr. Sabahat ALIŞIR ECDERa
aİç Hastalıkları AD, Nefroloji BD, İstanbul Üniversitesi İstanbul Tıp Fakültesi, İSTANBUL Three major factors play an important role in the pathogenesis of cyst formation in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease. These are (1) abnormal proliferation and apoptosis of tubular epithelial cells, (2) abnormal fluid secretion from the tubular cells and (3) abnormal extracellular matrix synthesis and metabolism. Recent studies showed that polycystin proteins are expressed on the cilia of cells suggesting that ciliary dysfunction may also play a role in the pathogenesis in cyst formation. Keywords: Proliferation, apoptosis, extracellular matrix, autosomal dominant polycystic kidney diseaseTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2005, 1(4):12-15
