Extrarenal Manifestations Of Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease
Dr. Caner ÇAVDARa
aNefroloji BD, Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, İZMİR Autosomal dominant (adult type) polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is one of the most frequent hereditary diseases. It accounts for approximately 8 to 10 percent of end stage renal disease. Not only the kidneys but also other systems are affected by the disease. Extrarenal manifestations may be due to the cysts; the liver is the most involved organ. Cardiovascular involvement (valve insufficiency, aortic dissection, cerebral aneurysms) and colonic diverticular disease are examples for manifestations independant from the cysts. This section will generally asses the extrarenal involvement of ADPKD. Cerebral aneurysm will be discussed in detail in another section. Keywords: Polycystic kidney, cyst, aneurysm, diverticulaTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2005, 1(4):25-28
