Primary Hypertension In Children And Adolescents

Primary hypertension and obesity are important problems all over the world. Early recognition of hypertension followed by adequate investigation and treatment are required to decrease the associated cardiovascular and renal morbidity/mortality. Primary hypertension of adulthood begins in childhood. Following the progress of hypertension in childhood and adolescents is important because pediatricians can identify children at higher risk of becoming adults with hypertension and initiate preventive measures at an early age. For this reason, pediatricians should pay special attention to the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension and other cardiovasculer risk factors early in childhood.
