Recently, non-pharmacologic therapy, including weight reduction, physical conditioning and dietary modification have been recommended as the first steps in the treatment of hypertension in chidren and adolescents. Antihypertensive drug therapy should be used in patients with severe hypertension or when the blood pressure remains significantly elevated on non-pharmacologıc therapy. Even if antihypertensive drugs are used, non-pharmacologic therapy should continue. İn this article the causes, clinical findings and treatment of neonatal as well as childhood hypertension are evaluated. Keywords: Pediatric hypertension, neonatal hypertension, etiology, treatment.Turkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2005, 1(38):30-43
