The most common causes of renal artery stenosis are atherosclerosis in patients over 55-years-old and fibromuscular dysplasia in young females. Conventional angiography is the gold standard method in the diagnosis of renal artery stenosis. Doppler ultrasonography, magnetic resonance angiography and computed tomography angiography are the noninvasive methods that can be used to evaluate patients with suspicion of renal artery stenosis. Recently, renal vascular hypertension has been successfully treated by percutanous transluminal angioplasty with or without stent placement as an alternative method to surgery. This article summarizes radiological techniques and percutaneous interventional treatment methods used in the management of renovascular hypertension. Keywords: Renovascular hypertension, MR, CT, doppler ultrasonographyTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2005, 1(38):94-99
