Renovascular Hypertension

aNefroloji BD, Selçuk Üniversitesi Meram Tıp Fakültesi, KONYA Renovascular hypertension is defined as a syndrome of arterial hypertension induced by renal perfusion pressure secondary to a vascular lesion. Atherosclerotic disease of the renal arteries is the most common cause of renovascular hypertension. Fibromuscular disease of the renal arteries is most common among young females. The prevalance of renovascular hypertension is about 1% of all hyper-tensive population.
In this chapter, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnostic methods, medical therapy and renal revascularization for renovascular hypertension will be discussed.Keywords: Hypertension, renovascular; renal artery obstruction; fibromuscular dysplasiaTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2007, 3(4):1-10
