Hypertensive Nephrosclerosis
Dr. N.Yılmaz SELÇUKa
aNefroloji BD, Selçuk Üniversitesi Meram Tıp Fakültesi, KONYA Hypertensive nephrosclerosis(HN) is a significant disease, leading to end stage renal disease(ESRD). It is considered that long-standing essential hypertension caused to nephrosclerosis(usually >10 years).
In pathogenesis of HN, it is suggested that glomerular ischemia, hypertension and hyperfiltration of glomerulus and genotype were significant.
Pathologic findings, determined in HN, are not patognomonic; they are also seen in kidney biopsy specimens of normotensive elderly patients or diabetic patients. In all of causes lead to ESRD, hypertension and nephrosclerosis is determined.
It is considered that the progression of renal disease maintained due to not only hypertension but also other causes; because recently studies can not indicated that intensive antihypertensive treatment reduced to the progression of renal disease in HN.
Consequently, recent studies should done to more clearly indicate to patogenesis of HN and to determine effects of medical treatment in reducing renal disease progression. Keywords: Nephrosclerosis; kidney failure, chronicTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2007, 3(4):17-22
