Dr. Kenan ATEŞa
aNefroloji BD, Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, ANKARA Chronic kidney disease is an important health problem in the worldwide. The number of patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) is increased dramatically. The key factor improving the attempts for the prevention, early diagnosis and effective treatment of CKD is the presence of high quality nephrology training programs. However, the current number of nephrologists is not sufficient for the care of the growing ESRD population. Nephrology training programs will have to increase the number of well-training nephrologists to provide the medical care required by the patients with CKD and prevent the CKD. This article reviews trends and problems related to adult nephrology education in the world and Turkey. Keywords: Chronic kidney disease, nephrology trainingTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2007, 3(38):115-120
